Mount Uhud
Mount Uhud is situated in the North of Madinah.  This is where a great battle took place, in which sadly the Prophet’s (saw) uncle Hamzah was martyred, as well as a seventy Muslims. Here our beloved Messenger’s (saw) face was wounded and incisor broken.

Narrated Jabir bin Abdullah: “The Prophet collected every two martyrs of Uhud in one piece of cloth, then he would ask, ‘Which of them had (knew) more of the Qur’an?’ When one of them was pointed out for him, he would put that one first in the grave and say, ‘I will be a witness on these on the Day of Resurrection.’ He ordered them to be buried with their blood on their bodies and they were neither washed nor was a funeral prayer offered for them.  [Al bukhary]

There are a few ahadeeth regarding the virtue of Uhud. The messenger of allah (saw) said regarding it: “Uhud is a mountain which loves us, and we love it.” [Al Bukhary and Al Muslim]

It is reported from Anas (ra) that when The Prophet (saw) ascended Uhud with his companions Abu Bakr, Umar and Uthman (ra), the mountain shook, and the Pophet (saw) said: “Be firm Uhud, for upon you are a Prophet, a siddiq and two martyrs.” [Al Bukhary]
